Well done to our intermediate hurlers who began their championship campaign with a 1-10 to 0-11 victory over Seir Kieran on Friday last in Banagher. K/K were forced to make an early substitution and positional switches due to an injury to Chris Guinan in the first minute. K/K played against a strong breeze in the first half and trailed by two points at the break 0-8 to 0-6. A point from a sideline cut from Dylan Murray after the restart left just one in it but Seir Kieran got the next three points to move 0-11 to 0-7 clear with 20 minutes to go. However, they failed to score again as points from Dylan Murray (2) and Jordan Quinn followed by a goal from substitute Stephen Leonard four minutes from the end gave K/K a two point win. Team & Scorers: Óisin Mahon, Peter Howley, Chris Guinan, Shaun Lowry, Shane Melia, Jason Studdart, Owen Dunne, Roger Deegan, James Geraghty, Dan Kilmartin, Jordan Quinn (0-1), Dylan Murray (0-7, 5f, 1sc), Mark Leonard, Trevor Fletcher (0-1), James Kilmartin, Subs: Peter Troy (0-1) (for C. Guinan (inj), 2 mins), Alan Spain (for P. Troy, 41mins), Stephen Leonard (1-0) (for D. Kilmartin, 41mins)
Well done to our Junior A hurlers who began their championship with a 2-18 to 0-11 win over Ballinamere in Durrow on Saturday and to our Junior B hurlers who defeated Birr 6-19 to 0-8 on Sunday in Birr.
