U13 Hurlers – All-Ireland Kilmacud 7s Champions
A huge congratulations to our U13 hurlers and mentors who won the All-Ireland Kilmacud 7s on Saturday last. After finishing top of their group with wins over Holycross (4-6 to 2-5), Naas (5-10 to 0-3) and Camross (2-5 to 0-4), they defeated Monaleen 2-9 to 3-2 in the Semi Final to set up a final with Kilmacud Crokes. Another strong performance in the final ensured that the cup would be coming back with them winning on a scoreline of 5-4 to 0-2.
Night at the OsKaRs
Date for your diary! We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting a Night at the OsKaRs fundraiser on Saturday 10th November in Tullamore Court Hotel. This will involve seven short films being made locally with all local actors and actresses (no previous acting experience necessary!) which will then be shown on the night with ‘OsKars’ awarded for best film, best actor, best actress etc. This Thursday evening 23rd August at 7.30pm in the Clubhouse, we will have an information evening which everyone is more than welcome to attend. If you think that a bit of acting could be you, then please come along!
Junior Hurling Championship
Our junior hurlers played out a 1-11 to 0-14 draw with Kinnitty on Tuesday evening last in Kilcormac. Kinnitty got an early goal but K/K had levelled things up by the 12th minute at 1-2 to 0-5 with points from Eamon Bracken, Daithi Guinan, Paul Guinan, Aidan Bracken and Joey Lynch and the sides remained level at the break at 0-9 to 1-6. Kinnitty went two points ahead early in the second half but a brace of frees from Joey Lynch squared things up once again. The sides could not be separated in the end and the sides must meet again in a playoff this Thursday 23rd at 6.45pm in Rath to decide who finishes on top of the group. Intermediate Football Championship
Hard luck to our Intermediate footballers who lost out to St Brigids on Sunday morning by 1-17 to 1-5.
U15 Hurling Championship
Well done to our U15 hurlers who got their third win from three in the Championship on Monday evening last in Kilcormac against Tullamore by 2-16 to 0-9. Charlie Mitchell struck both goals as K/K led by 2-3 to 0-5 after 15 minutes. Points from Colin Spain and Leigh Kavanagh were cancelled out before Alex Kavanagh got the last point of the half as K/K led by 2-6 to 0-7 at the interval. Tullamore got the first point after the restart to reduce the gap to four but Charlie Mitchell got the next three points to extend the lead again. Tullamore got the next point to reduce the gap to six but K/K finished very strongly scoring the last seven points unanswered for the win with points from Charlie Mitchell (3), Colin Spain (2), Dylan Hand and Enda Leonard.
