Well done to our Senior hurlers and management on their superb 2-21 to 0-10 victory over Mount Leinster Rangers on Sunday in the Leinster Club SHC Semi Final in Bord na Mona O’Connor Park. It was a performance that epitomizes the skill, heart, determination and work rate of this team. Thanks to the other clubs of county for their messages of support for last Sunday’s match. We now go on to meet the reigning All-Ireland Champions Cuala from Dublin in the Leinster Final on Sunday 3rd December at 2pm in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise. No doubt there will be a big following there to support the lads. The game started off with a couple of early points from Conor Mahon which were matched by three points from MLR. K/K hit four of the next five points to move 0-6 to 0-4 ahead by the 22nd minute with Cillian Kiely, Peter Geraghty and Ciaran Slevin (2 frees) getting the scores. K/K were then reduced to 14 in the 25th minute when Cillian Kiely was given a straight red card by the referee on the advice of his umpire. This proved to be the spark which ignited the team into action as K/K went on to outscore MLR by 2-14 to 0-2 with a dazzling half an hour spell either side of the break. It began just one minute after the sending off as James Gorman crashed the ball to the net for the game’s 1st goal, two more frees from Slevin left K/K 1-8 to 0-4 ahead at the break. By the 38th minute, James Gorman and Dan Currams had another six points on the board for K/K to MLR’s two – 4 for Gorman and 2 for Currams. Stephen Leonard got his first of the game before Dan Currams surged through to finish the ball to the net for K/K’s second goal. MLR were then reduced to 14 also before another five unanswered points from Mahon, Currams, Gorman, Slevin and P. Geraghty had K/K well on the way to the Leinster Final by the 53rd minute. MLR hit the next four points followed by the final point of the game from Thomas Geraghty capped off a brilliant win. Team & Scorers: Conor Slevin; Killian Leonard, Ger Healion, Enda Grogan; Kevin Grogan, Damien Kilmartin, Jordan Quinn, Ciarán Slevin, Cillian Kiely, James Gorman, Conor Mahon, Peter Geraghty, Thomas Geraghty, Peter Healion, Dan Currams.
