Well done to our Senior hurlers and management on their 2-15 to 1-12 victory over Castletown Geoghegan in the Leinster Club SHC Quarter Final on Sunday in Bord na Mona O’Connor Park. They will now face Mount Leinster Rangers (Carlow) in the Semi Final on Sunday week in Bord na Mona O’Connor Park. K/K played against the breeze in the first half and were 1-1 to 0-1 behind after five minutes when Castletown-Geoghegan converted a penalty. Peter Healion replied with a goal for K/K five minutes later but CTG remained on top for the next ten minutes and hit five unanswered points to move 1-6 to 1-2 ahead. A point from Cillian Kiely brought the gap back to three before Kiely gave an excellent pass to Dan Currams one minute later as he brilliantly finished to the net to level the game up. K/K outscored CTG by 0-3 to 0-2 for the remainder of the half with points from Ciaran Slevin (2) and James Gorman to lead by 2-6 to 1-8 at the break. K/K were reduced to 14 soon after the restart when Stephen Leonard received a second booking but K/K battled on and hit 6 of the next 7 points with Ciaran Slevin hitting four of those as K/K led by 2-12 to 1-9 with ten minutes to go. CTG did get the next couple of points but again Slevin popped up with a couple of frees before Peter Geraghty hit an excellent point with the last puck of game as K/K ran out six point winners. Well done to our U16 hurlers who qualified for the League Final against Shinrone after a 5-13 to 1-7 semi final victory over Ferbane/Belmont on Saturday last in Banagher. Two further goals followed in the space of a minute through Aaron Hannon and Oisin Keating and points from Cathal Donoghue and Cathal Kiely left K/K 3-4 to 0-1 ahead after 15 minutes. F/B then hit 1-3 unanswered over the next five minutes to reduce the gap to six. Further points from Cathal Donoghue and Cathal Kiely left K/K 3-6 to 1-5 ahead at the break. Kilcormac/Killoughey GAA Club wish to express our sincere sympathy to the Leonard family, Cully on the passing of Peter Leonard at his home in Leixlip, Co. Kildare last week in his 99th year. Peter played for Killoughey and Kilcormac in the late 1940s and early 1950s and also starred for Offaly in those years. We would also like to express our sincere sympathy to Jerry, Celine and Louis Sheehan, Rathrobin on the sad passing of their beloved son and brother Neil. We would also like to express our sincere sympathy to Maura Deegan and family, Limekiln, Kilcormac on the death of her sister Breda Costelloe in Rathfarnham, Dublin.
