U21 Hurling
Hard luck to our U21 hurlers and management who bowed out of the championship after a 1-16 to 0-12 defeat to Ballinamere in the Quarter Final on Sunday morning in Kilcormac. Ballinamere got the early advantage and led by 0-3 to 0-1 after 6 minutes with James Kilmartin getting K/K’s point. Ballinamere had pushed 3 points ahead before K/K got three unanswered points from Conor Quinn, Conor Lowry and Cillian Kiely to level the game up at 0-5 apiece after 20 minutes. K/K went ahead for the first time in the 28th minute when Stephen Leonard pointed before Ballinamere got the final two points to lead by 0-8 to 0-7 at the interval. Ballinamere got the first score of the 2nd half but points from Lochlann Kavanagh and Conor Quinn levelled the game up once more but a dominant ten minute spell from Ballinamere took the game away from us as they hit the next three points followed by the games only goal to move 1-12 to 0-9 ahead. Our lads battled back well hitting 3 of the next 4 points through Conor Quinn, Dylan Young and Shaun Lowry but unfortunately we couldn’t get any closer as Ballinamere scored the final 3 points for a seven point victory. Team & Scorers: Rory Gleeson, Cormac Dunne, Oisin Mahon, Cathal Gath, Shaun Lowry (0-1), Cillian Kiely (0-1f), Mikey Ryan, Conor Lowry (0-2), Conor Quinn (0-4f), Karl Guinan, James Kilmartin (0-1), Dylan Young (0-1), Brian Dunne, Stephen Leonard (0-1), Dylan Leonard. Subs used: Lochlann Kavanagh (0-1) (for C. Dunne, 29mins), Niall Egan (for B. Dunne, 37mins), Anthony Kilmartin (for D. Young, 59mins), Kevin Ryan (for D. Leonard, 59mins)
