Senior Hurling
Well done to our Senior hurlers who continued their 100% start to the championship with a 6-22 to 0-9 victory over Shamrocks on Sunday last in O’Connor Park, Tullamore. K/K played with the aid of the breeze in the first half and got off to a great start with a goal from Dan Currams in the third minute with a lead built up of 1-5 to 0-3 after 15 minutes. A strong 2nd quarter put K/K in a commanding position with further goals from Dan Currams, Thomas Geraghty and Ciarán Slevin leaving K/K 4-12 to 0-6 ahead at the break. Thomas Geraghty completed his hat-trick in the second half with goals in the 35th and 44th minute as K/K ran out convincing winners. Intermediate Hurling
Well done to our Intermediate hurlers who had an excellent 3-10 to 1-12 victory over Ballinamere in O’Connor Park, Tullamore on Sunday morning. K/K played with the aid of a breeze in the first half and Conor Quinn opened the scoring with a free but Ballinamere hit the next 1-4 without reply to get into an early six point lead after 10 minutes. K/K however got 4 of the next 5 points through Conor Quinn (3) and Stephen Leonard to bring the deficit back to three. Then a brace of goals in the 25th and 28th minutes from Shane and Karl Guinan brought K/K to the front. The sides traded the last points of the half to leave it 2-6 to 1-6 at the break. Ballinamere started the second half strongly and the sides were back on level terms by the 41st minute but K/K had crept in front again – 2-10 to 1-12 – by the 55th minute with three scores from placed balls from Conor Quinn. The game was put beyond doubt in the 58th minute when a long range free from Conor Quinn made its way to the back of the net. Junior Hurling
Hard luck to our Junior A hurlers who lost out by the narrowest of margins to Shinrone in Shinrone on Saturday evening, 0-14 to 0-13. The sides traded scores in the first ten minutes with Trevor Fletcher scoring two frees for K/K. Joey Lynch hit K/K’s first point from play in the 13th minute before Shinrone got the next three scores of the game to move ahead. Trevor Fletcher’s frees kept K/K in touch throughout the half and Anthony Kilmartin scored a long range point with the last score of the half to leave it 0-10 to 0-7 to Shinrone at the interval. Scores were hard to come by early in the second half and a free from Trevor Fletcher in the 41st minute was the first score of the half. K/K followed up with 3 of the next 4 points through Fletcher, Joey Lynch and Aidan Bracken to leave the game up with 10 minutes to go. Another brace of frees left K/K 0-13 to 0-11 up with less than 5 minutes to go but K/K hit four wides in succession before a brace from Shinrone had the game back level as it went into injury time. In the fourth minute of injury time, Shinrone converted a close in free to secure the one point victory. Team & Scorers: Seamus McDonald, John Kenna, Brian Feighery, Paul Dillon, Cormac Dunne, Joe Dunican, Niall Leavy, Anthony Kilmartin (0-1), Peter Howley, Harley Dalzell, Joey Lynch (0-2), Aidan Bracken (0-1), Niall Egan, Trevor Fletcher (0-9, 8f), Brian Dunne.
