It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Pat Troy, life president of the club on Thursday in Virginia, USA. Whilst Pat left Kilcormac in 1962 to begin a new life in Washington, he never forgot his roots and was a frequent visitor back home.
His generosity to the local area here was no more evident than his kind sponsorship, along with his wife Bernie, of a summer camp in Kilcormac for many years for the children of the parish. In 2011, we hosted an U16 hurling tournament which was also kindly sponsored by Pat and Bernie and they were in attendance to make the presentations of medals, cup and shield afterwards that day. He was a passionate supporter of Kilcormac/Killoughey and Offaly and always attended games when he was home for a visit.
We extend our sincere sympathy to his wife Bernie, son Patrick, daughter Kathleen, extended family and friends. Pat’s funeral will take place in Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday April 7th.
New club gear ordered from Slevin Sports has arrived. On tomorrow (Thursday 10th) evening from 7pm and Friday 11th from 5pm, people can call to the Clubhouse in Kilcormac to pick up the gear which they have ordered. If people still have to pay for gear they’ve ordered, they can settle with Ciaran when collecting the gear.
